Warrior helmet (kora)
This cane-weave headgear worn by Ao Naga warriors functions as a kind of helmet. It is adorned with buffalo horns, boar tusks and hornbill feathers. The hornbill has a special mythical meaning for the Naga. Only warriors of special distinction are permitted to wear such helmets.
Entry in the main historical catalogue: "Kora" cane helmet of the Âo with horns, boar's tusks and two hornbill feathers.
There are 2 x 7 feathers with the inventory numbers 28141, 28141 a, b, c and d, but there are only a maximum of 12 feathers on the helmet. No clear information has been found about how the other feathers are attached.
