Auf der Unterseite der Mumiensandale findet sich die Darstellung eines an den Armen gefesselten Nubiers mit einem knielangen, bunten Gewand. Dieser verkörpert in einer Person die Bevölkerung aus dem Süden und ist zugleich Teil der Gesamtheit feindlicher Mächte. In der Regel zeigt die zweite Sandale immer einen Vetreter aus dem Norden. Durch das Bild auf der Sohle wird das Gefährliche und Böse vom Verstorbenen dauerhaft gebannt und besiegt. (J. Helmbold-Doyé)
